How to get there

Tunisia has long been established as a tourist destination with many direct and indirect flights from the UK and Europe. Currently five airlines offer direct flights from the UK, but this number should increase once a new airport opens in 2009, which will also open the door to budget airlines such as EasyJet and Ryanair.

Thomas Cook offer flights from the following UK airports to Monastir:
• London Gatwick • London Luton • Manchester • Birmingham
• Coventry • Bristol • Doncaster • Newcastle • Glasgow

Other airlines also offer direct flights from the UK to eitherTunis or Monastir airports:

•    British Airways
•    Tunis Air
•    Nouvel
•    AirTunisie
•    XL airlines

There are also many indirect connecting flights to Tunisia from most UK airports with Air France. There are inexpensive and frequent ferries from Europe to Tunis from Marseille in France not to mention Genoa, La Spezia, Naples, Palermo and Trapani in Italy.

Many visitors travel to Tunisia to enjoy its sunny climate and white sandy beaches. The sea is nearly always a clear turquoise, and some resorts are among the best on offer in the Mediterranean.

This charming country has so much more to offer, mostly within easy reach of the coast, and is now at last starting to gain a reputation for friendly people, whitewashed medinas, verdant forests in the north, a vast desert and lush oasis in the south, and an amazing wealth of historical treasures further inland. With a delicious and exciting cuisine also waiting to be discovered; Tunisia has much to recommend it.

Although an established mainstream holiday destination, Tunisia still attracts a lot of first time visitors. Those that visit tend to return again and again, absorbing more and more of the culture. With it’s mysterious medinas and bustling souks alive with the sound of haggling and the smell of fresh bread, the experience lives long in the memory.
