Luxury property for sale Caribbean

Caribbean: The dream destination, with so many fabulous tropical islands, (more than 7,000) such as The Bahamas, Bermuda, St Lucia, Barbados, Turks and Caicos, St Kitts, Nevis and St Helena. Famed for glorious sandy beaches, stunning scenery and months of never ending sunshine the Caribbean is a real delight. The local people are of course very relaxed and laid back making this an experience so different from the hustle and bustle of the UK. Music is as much a part of the days and nights as is the sun and the sea. The Caribbean is always alive with sounds and rhythms. Music is spontaneous and erupts in the bar, the street corner and the beach or anywhere there happens to be a gathering of more than one. The style is Afro-Caribbean and Latin American. The birthplace of the steel band and "beats" like calypso, rumba and salsa. Bob Marley is from Jamaica and famously exported reggae across the globe.

Climate: Sub tropical, mild and humid with plenty of sunshine and of course there can be strong gale force winds and tornados in the winter.

Currency: Barbadian Dollar, Bermudan Dollar, East Caribbean Dollar etc although the US dollar is widely accepted everywhere.

Getting There: All the major Caribbean destinations are easily accessible from the UK with the main carriers. BA only flies direct from Heathrow and Gatwick to the larger destinations but Virgin Atlantic does have flights to Barbados from Manchester. 8 to 10 hours flying time from the UK.

Permanent Move: It is virtually impossible to be able to take up full time employment on any of the Caribbean islands. In the Bahamas for example an annual home owner's permit (US$500) will allow you to remain on the islands but not work. Foreigners bringing in more than US$500,000 can apply for permanent residency. Turks and Caicos will not grant work permits easily. You are permitted to stay for 30 days initially on arrival but this can be extended to 60 days. If you are in employment that a 'Belonger' (an island resident by birth) cannot or is not qualified to do you will be permitted a visa for up to 5 years. However if you leave that employment you will have to return to the UK, it is not transferable. These regulations are very much standard for all the Caribbean islands.

Time:  GMT - 4 or - 5

The Property Market is booming: The Caribbean is for many the ideal place, especially during the dreary winter months back home in the UK. It’s easy to understand why so many Brits jet off to the Caribbean for a dose of sunshine, rest and relaxation each year. This of course makes for a great tourism-based property market. Its also just a short hop from the USA, but economic problems in the USA seem to have had very little effect on confidence in the Caribbean, there is plenty new developments that clearly demonstrate confidence in the market. The continuing strength of the British Pound has of course encouraged more British buyers to invest in the Caribbean. The Caribbean is part of the Commonwealth, so the British feel comfortable with the laws, administration and English language. Nassau is very popular with British buyers as is Great Exuma and Abaco, but there is great potential to be found in places like Eleuthera, Long Island and certain parts of Abaco. This really is a dream destination with great investment potential.
